Duncan studied at Edinburgh University, before joining the Army in 1983, where he served as a doctor until 1992, which included tours in The Falklands and Afghanistan. He tells me how rejoining the military helped him get into sports medicine and how he had to go to the top of the command chain to be allowed to leave early, much to the annoyance of his immediate superiors. During his four years treating injured soldiers at the Catterick Regional Rehabilitation Unit, Duncan was involved in forming a medical Diagnostic Ultrasound Group at Bournemouth University, which has now become the School of Medical Ultrasound at the AECC University College. He has since worked at Derby County, Aston Villa, Chelsea Blackburn Rovers, and now at Fleetwood Town. Duncan has recently set up Fylde Sports Injury Clinic and reunited with Dave Fevre, who gatecrashed the end of this interview!
