What is Shockwave?
There are two types of Shockwave Therapy available, Radial Pressure Wave and Focused Shockwave; learn more about the differences.
Shockwaves have been used safely and effectively, for over 40 years with thousands of papers showcasing its effectiveness and safety. The use of Radial Shockwave or Radial Pressure Wave have been successfully used for musculoskeletal conditions, predominantly chronic tendinopathies.
What is Radial Shockwave?
Radial Pressure Wave is a much low energy stimulus generated by a bullet within the handpiece colliding with a transmitter. The energy generated from the collision is converted into acoustic energy and transferred into the tissues by a medium (ultrasonic gel).
Most of the energy from a Radial Shockwave is delivered at the contact point (skin) and reduces as the energy passes into the tissue.
Penetration depths can be modified by frequency and transmitter type and are better for superficial indications.
