Life Stories Episode #17: Denise Hardy

14 Views • 24 May, 2021

Denise was one of the first people that I came across when we started working in Lymphoedema. This is a world that I knew little about but is one that has become integral to our business, and helped me understand it when a family member was suffering from the condition. Denise is still great support to us in this area, and our work is now helping our musculoskeletal clients to understand the importance of Lymphatics.

We talked about who inspired Denise to start exploring and find funding for a new Lymphoedema service in the Midlands. Denise set up Kendal Lymphology Centre in 2004 to provide treatment/management for patients suffering from all types of chronic oedema, Lymphoedema, and Lipoedema. Treatment of these conditions has always been poorly funded, and Denise gave her views on the challenges of being able to offer a good quality service to support patients whose lives can be so badly affected. She also made a plea for anyone who may want to take over her work once she retires, so applications will be accepted!!
