Life Stories Episode #56: Wayne Diesel

Wayne’s journey is a fascinating one, spanning three continents. He finished his career in the NBA as Director of player care at the San Antonio Spurs. Before this, he spent three seasons in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins as the sports performance director. Prior to joining Miami, he was the head of medical services for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club from 2007 to 2015. He also spent four years with Charlton Athletic Football Club and one year with the Gloucester Rugby Football Club. Wayne set up the first physiotherapy practice at the Sports Science Institute of South Africa after earning his PhD in exercise physiology from the University of Cape Town in 1994. Wayne has also served as the head physiotherapist for numerous South African National Teams, including rugby, swimming, men’s hockey and women’s gymnastics. He also understands Dutch!!
