In some 22 years of practice as a Functional Medicine practitioner there are few health issues that I haven’t seen come through the door, but what struck me at an early stage was the evidence of lymphatic congestion in a very large percentage of cases. This might have been a result of, for example, a viral infection, or may indeed have been in itself a causative factor in illness, perhaps resulting from poor diet or a digestive malfunction. Something of a chicken and egg situation. But it became increasingly clear to me that whatever the cause, any effective form of lymphatic clearance would be likely to hasten recovery.
LYMPHATOUCH IN A FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE SETTING
In fact, I have been consulted by clients who have spent years trying out one therapy after another, yet failing to achieve a satisfactory result until they have finally stumbled upon lymphatic drainage and their lives have been turned around. My most amazing results have been in the area of ME/CFS, and also Fibromyalgia. One female client aged 18 had been confined to bed for 18 months following a viral condition that affected her family in India and all treatments had failed. Within weeks of starting lymph drainage treatments she started to improve and within three months she was back at school. Another, middle-aged lady who was crippled with FM was almost pain-free after a few sessions.
Until recently, the standard treatment for lymphatic congestion has been Manual Lymphatic Drainage. When skillfully performed it can certainly produce a very worthwhile outcome but not having been trained in the technique, I have depended on technology to do the work. For more than 20 years I have used the Light Beam Generator – a system that uses electromagnetism to break up randomly clogged particles so as to restore flow, but there is a need for added manual assistance. This can sometimes be uncomfortable in areas of severe congestion.
A Complimentary Treatment
This is where I found LymphaTouch to fill a gap. In many of my lymph drainage sessions since acquiring the system, I have used it to follow up after the Light Beam Generator treatments and it has been very well received by my clients who all describe it as relaxing. On a number of occasions, I have used it exclusively and it would appear that the results are very comparable.
Another benefit I have found is that it can be a valuable part of an inch loss programme. As an adjunct to cold laser lipolysis, it is very effective in treating fluid retention. A recent client, who didn’t appear particularly overweight to begin with, lost 8 pounds in a week after just one session.
All in all, LymphaTouch has proved a wonderful addition to my practice and has been an enjoyable way for my clients to experience some of the benefits of lymphatic health.
