For the first time in two and a half years, we welcomed the BTE team back to the UK. I have worked
with BTE for over 15 years, and this is the longest we have gone without a visit (for obvious reasons).
It was a great trip to welcome them back, as we were joined by President Chuck Wetherington, VP
Waldo Vazquez and clinical specialist Jeff Johnson.
R&R with the BTE team
After getting together at the weekend for a roast dinner in Cheshire, we each took one of the teams
to various parts of the UK. Four hospitals have purchased the BTE PrimusRS in the last few months,
so Jeff and Dom’s objective was to support the NHS clinical teams at Aintree, Leeds, Chesterfield,
and Leicester as well as existing users in Birmingham.
BTE Primus
The Primus is used in over 40 NHS facilities for objective assessment and functional rehabilitation.
However, funding and focus on rehabilitation have been in decline in the NHS for the 15 years I have
been working in this industry, but there is a definite change in the mindset and funding
opportunities. As well as general rehabilitation, the teams we visited have some incredible projects.
These include long covid, occupational health, breast cancer, ACL rehab, brachial plexus & hand
transplant rehabilitation.
Visiting Clinical Sites
As well as the training sessions, we took Chuck and Waldo to some of the top clinical sites in the UK.
BTE share our passion for understanding the objectives of our clients and seeing if we can assist
them in achieving these goals. The demand for outcome measures and objective data is becoming a
necessity rather than a luxury, so I am very excited to see where these projects lead.
The next BTE visit is scheduled for late September, so if you are interested in meeting the team,
please get in touch.
“The training was great – we were all really buzzing afterwards!”
