Life Stories Episode #72: Doug Jones

Doug has worked part time in sport and private practice since graduating in 1999 starting at Bristol Rugby then London Scottish until moving to a full time position at Sale Sale Sharks in 2006. He worked at the Sharks for 4 seasons progressing to head Physio and then in 2010 became the head of Medicine at London Wasps and worked there for three seasons until being offered a full time role to tour with the senior England Rugby side for the 2013 Six Nations campaign.

After the 2013 six nations campaign Doug left full time professional sport taking up the position as physiotherapy director at Spire Manchester and responsible for the physiotherapy department there and assisting in developing new services and business development.

Doug has a degree in Physiotherapy, a degree in Sports Therapy, a masters in Physiotherapy, he has a PGCE as a lecturer in higher education and his PhD is ongoing at Salford University.

He has published three papers in British sports medical journals on shoulder rehabilitation in the last ten years and has been invited to talk at numerous national conferences on sports medicine and rehabilitation.

He is a keen sportsmen and currently training to compete in his first Iron Man event next year already having taken part in three half iron man relays in Majorca, Germany and Barcelona this season.
