Sean took the unusual route of qualifying as a physiotherapist before starting his career in professional football, representing Stockport County, Wolves, Tranmere and Rushden & Diamonds. Sean talked about some of the highlights and challenges of playing football, including scoring a goal in the League Cup Semi-Final against the star-studded Middlesbrough team.
After finishing playing, he linked up with his former manager at Stockport, Dave Jones, at Cardiff City as the team physio. In 2014 he left Cardiff City to become Head of Performance at Servette FC, Geneva, Switzerland. This was short-lived and he quickly returned to the English Premiership as Lead Physiotherapist for Crystal Palace FC.
In 2017 he left Palace to take up a full-time role with the Football Association of Wales. Sean told me some of the most memorable experiences of his career which included the 2016 European Championships, where Wales performed amazingly to get to the Semi-Finals, as well as having the pleasure of studying with Dave Hancock!
