60 Views • 1 Nov, 2022

Steve is a Leeds based Chartered Physiotherapist with a wealth of experience in elite sport having qualified from Leeds Metropolitan University with a degree in BSc (Hons) Sport & Exercise Science prior to achieving a First Class Honours in BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy. More recently he qualified from University of Bath with a Distinction in (MSc) Sports Physiotherapy.

He is currently the Head of Medical Services at Sheffield United FC, having previously held the role of Lead Rehabilitation Physiotherapist with Huddersfield Town AFC in the English Football Premier League and Championship. Before his switch to football he was Head of Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation at Yorkshire Carnegie RUFC (Previously known as Leeds Carnegie RUFC/Leeds Tykes RUFC), working in the Guinness/AVIVA Premiership and Greene King IPA Championship.

Within this period, he was selected to work as Physiotherapist to the RFU for the Championship XV in camps and fixtures against Canada and New Zealand. This placed him in good stead to assist and medically lead with regional RFU England pathways on several occasions. These experiences led to an approach to assist with the Samoan international squad for a week, screening their UK & French based players for feedback on selection for their 2015 Rugby Union World Cup.

Simultaneously, from 2012-2015 he was the UK based consultant physiotherapist to triple Olympic Snowboard-Cross athlete, Zoe Gillings-Brier through British Ski-Snowboard, and away from sport he experienced working in a successful local private practice from 2013 to 2015 and managing his own private physiotherapy and sports injury clinic thereafter.

Steve holds a key interest in hamstring injuries, return to play and post-surgical rehabilitation.
